The residents of Amishetka, a sleepy little Amish village in Western Kansas, lead a very simple, devout and pious lifestyle. That is until Ely Badsworth and his henchman Jonas Toadman move in under the guise of being visiting Amishites from Pennsylvania. In reality, they are ex-cons from Leavenworth intent on finding a hidden stash of stolen gold from a ten year old robbery. Their only impediment is the fact that the Blacksmith Shop, owned and operated by our hero Brother Andrew Modernsly now rests on the very spot where the treasure is buried. In order to gain access to their objective they must first convince the town elders that Modernsly's Mennonite background and penchant for modern engineering makes him an undesirable resident and must therefore be shunned and banished from the community. Laughter ensues as they pursue this objective battling not only the town Elders and Modernsly, but coming up against the strong willed resistance of Elder Sanderson's lovely daughter Sarah.
